WEB Boston took a 1-0 lead in its best-of-seven Eastern Conference second-round series against the Florida Panthers with a 5-1 victory in Game 1 on Thursday night at TD Garden.
WEB Swayman made 38 saves for the Bruins, who got goals from five different players. Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Brandon Carlo and Derek Forbort all scored for Boston.
The Bruins will look to take a 2-0 series lead when they host the Panthers in Game 2 on Saturday night.
WEB Brandon Carlo welcomed a baby boy on Thursday morning, then scored the game-winning goal for the Bruins in Game 1 against the Panthers that night.
Carlo's goal came in the second period, giving the Bruins a 2-1 lead. The goal was Carlo's first of the playoffs and his first since March 26.
Carlo said after the game that it was a "special day" for him and his family.
"It's been a long day, but it's been a great day," Carlo said. "I'm just so happy to be a dad and to be able to share this moment with my family."
Carlo's goal was one of the highlights of a big night for the Bruins, who also got goals from Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Derek Forbort.
