First-time All-Star to join Yankees before Trade Deadline
Move solidifies New York as contender in AL East
BOSTON - The New York Yankees acquired first-time All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins on Saturday in a trade that further solidifies the Bronx Bombers as contenders in the American League East.
Chisholm, 24, is slashing .249/.323/.434 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs for the Marlins this season. He entered the series opener with a career .735 OPS in 134 games as the leadoff batter -- most of any spot in the order -- after posting an .835 OPS during a 50-game stretch from June 19 to July 25.
The Yankees sent catcher Agustin Ramirez, infielder Jared Serna and outfielder Abrahan Ramirez to the Marlins in exchange for Chisholm.
The 2024 MLB Trade Deadline is July 30 at 6 p.m.
